Week Ending 06/02/24
Well, here we are in the last few days of school. Seniors have graduated and are moving on to new opportunities.
As we look back on the students' accomplishments in the Careers in Construction program, they can be proud of what they and the volunteers have achieved on several projects. Notable projects include the epic play stage construction for Beauty and the Beast and the completion of the first Tiny Home (TH1).
This past week, loose ends were tied up and new opportunities were explored.
The SCBA/CIC has approved the purchase of the trailer for the next Tiny Home (TH2) at a cost of $20,555. The trailer needed to be ordered before June 1st to be delivered to the school by the end of August, in time for the fall semester. The Association will be reimbursed when TH1 is sold this summer.
This past week, TH1 was approved by the Town of Frisco to be in the 4th of July Parade down Main Street. This is a great opportunity for the students to showcase their accomplishments. Thanks to Val for getting us into the parade.
Additionally, 12 students have accepted internships for employment in the trades this summer. More updates will follow next week.
If you want to follow the progress of this year's program from start to finish, go to summitcountybuilders.org and click on the CICC icon. You will see week-by-week reports and pictures of the progress made this past school year.
This week, we have two days of classes left, and then school is out for the summer.
Thank you, Carolanne, for last week's status report on the open house event and your help with the Tiny Home event.
Have a good week.
Paul
